Right Brain Therapy

Jerry Mungadze, BS, MA, PhD, LPC

Dr. Mungadze was born and raised in Zimbabwe where he served as pastor of a church and performed evangelism across the country. He helped deliver supplies to the soldiers on the front lines and minister to people in the villages victimized by guerrilla warfare.

Selected for a scholarship here in the United States, Dr. Mungadze received a BS in Bible from Dallas Bible College in Dallas, Texas, an MA in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas, and a Ph.D. in counselor education with a minor in psychology from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

Dr. Mungadze specializes in Right Brain Therapy (RBT). He developed Right Brain Therapy based on scientific brain research, and numerous studies on the effects of trauma on the brain. The RBT techniques were developed for the treatment of traumatic experiences, and symptoms related to the trauma. These symptoms include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), combat related stress, and traumatic brain injury. However, due to the success rate in treating trauma and it’s symptoms; Dr. Mungadze found that Right Brain Therapy had an equal success rate for; depression, eating disorders, drug addictions, sexual addictions, mood disorders, and chronic pain.

Frequently consulted by professionals in the field of trauma, Dr. Mungadze’s education and expertise keep him in high demand for his treatment techniques, and knowledge in right brain research. In addition, he trains law enforcement personnel on symptoms of PTSD, child abuse and sex trafficking and is deemed an expert witness for these crimes as well.

Dr. Mungadze is a member and frequent presenter for the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), the American Academy of Christian Counselors (AACC), the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and Texas Victims Services Association (TVSA).

Dr. Mungadze’s active speaking schedule has taken him around the United States and to a wide range of countries including Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ghana, Greece, and South Africa. Today, his clinic in Bedford, Texas, attracts clients from all over the world.

Rocky D. Smith, LMSW; Our Senior Therapist

Rocky holds a Masters Degree in Christian Counseling from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He also has a Masters of Science in Social Work (clinical counseling) from The University of Texas at Arlington. He specializes in Chemical Dependency, Right Brain Therapy, and Christian counseling.

Rocky worked at Millwood as a Social Worker, and led education groups on the Faith Based, Adult, and Intensive Care inpatient units, and in the outpatient Chemical Dependency program. His duties included group, individual, and family therapy.

Rocky has been a devoted clinician for Dr Mungadze since 2006, and has performed outstandingly in a variety of roles including; social work, clinician, lead therapist/social worker for the various inpatient programs (including our intensive outpatient program), and mentor to the interns that we have had come through our program over the past 10 years.
